He crashed hard and s lept the entire way home from the dealership . Was a bit apprehensive about our test ride in the bed of the truck. He has some attachment issues being left all alone, so maybe that’s why .
Smoke is getting worse here.
Named her Zoey. Have yet to take her actual offroading yet; picture is just after a flat dirt/gravel road to a local hiking trail.
18 mpg on the 25 0-ish mile Interstate drive home from the dealership was better than I would have guessed. I think I could easily get 20+ if I drove under 70 mph.
Got a HUGE thumbs up yesterday from a passing ZR2 owner; good moments .
The white color looks way better in person than I thought it would just looking at online pictures. I would still have ch osen blue if it were available, but I’m not dis ap po inted.
Didn’t notice this until I got home from the dealership. Not a big deal, but makes me worried about other lurking GM quality issues.
First upgrade needs to be LED bulb replacements. Maybe I can fix the reflector myself when I’m in then? Otherwise it should be a warranty fix.
Also, I was going to buy it from one dealership , but they told me couple days before that another buyer was about to put down a deposit and they said the same thing on Saturday (calling into question the validity of that statement) . I thought to myself that I don’t want to get into a bidding war or something stupid, so I bought from another dealership; is this a new tactic (lie) ? If so, it certainly backfired on them.

Congrats, I’ve been looking for those as well, I think it could be one of the best all around off-roader trucks you can purchase.
The Raptor is great, but it’s limited due to size on many trails, as is my current RAM Rebel. The ZR2 is fits a lot better if you want to go on narrower “Jeep” trails. Good for rock crawling with them front & rear locking diffs and does “Baja” as well going fast in open terrain.
I heard the rear locker can be left on at higher speeds in 2WD mode?

Very nice! Helluva pair if you kept the M2C.
I’d suggest only very
low-speed trips with your buddy in the bed, otherwise a strapped down carrier (
or inside the cab)
is much, much safer in case of an accident.

those are cool - a neighbor a few blocks away got a grey/charcoal one with the v6 (not the diesel) several months ago and I think it looks better in that white.

Looks great! And I do think the ‘we have another guy looking at it’ is certainly a tactic dealers used. I will usually tell them no problem just let me know if it falls through and then I’ll come look at it otherwise I’m not going to waste your time if you have a buyer in front of me . That tends to get to the truth.

Congratulations, that’s a nice truck! I hear the Multimatic DSSV suspension is AWESOME.
I’d go to the nearest dealer and get the headlight repaired/replaced under warranty. Also, why do you want to change the LEDs? From what I’ve read a lot of aftermarket LEDs aren’t much of an upgrade and often times actually worse. I’d do some research before I start messing with that.
Also, regarding the dealership that said they were getting a deposit, it’s possible an internet customer inquired/started the purchase process. Or they were just trying to mess with you. I’d check their site, or drive by their lot, and see if it’s indeed gone or still there. If it is, I’d go smugly rub it in their faces.

Decades ago I saw a man with not one but two dachshunds using what were effectively wheelchairs; a structure with wheels that the rear of their body sat in to allow them to move around. They had both been with him in a car accident, both broke their backs.
That was eye-opening, and I’ve been careful to use a harness in my Jeep whenever I took my dog with me.

So were his.
(Addendum: the other problem with unsecured dogs is, in an accident, you absolutely don’t want them running around on a busy street if they can get out.)

I still have and am keeping the M2C.
We got a rear seat cover for him, so he’ll just be in the back seat mostly.

T he stock Colorado headlights are crap; it’s a consensus. I previously owned a Colorado, and they indeed sucked. ZR2 forum members have installed aftermarket LEDs and suggest them.

Nice. My dogs haven’t been in the bed of my truck yet
, but I probably should train them for
it, just for around our place or a campground/etc.

We just drove around a parking lot slowly . Want him to be comfortable just in case a situation arises; muddy paws, quick jaunt with 4+ people, smells too much like river, etc...

I emailed back that salesman and just said that I bought from somewhere else because it sounded like they were ready to sell it to the other guy. No response. Aw well, it was pretty much the same price at both places, so I’m not too upset.

I like these but I’m not fond of either engine choice. The diesel has the low end I like but falls flat on it’s face at speed, the V6 has the top end but nothing low down.
In saying that, the V6 I tested was a ‘15 with the 6-s peed. Felt gutless low down. How does it feel to drive with the 8-speed?

To be honest, I’m used to driving around MT sportscars, so with the giant wheels and 8 speed AT it feels slow. However, it does feel much much much faster/gruntier than the 4-cyl MT C olorado I owned for a few months.
The V6 in this is apparently also the same one in the Camaro (or so say some guys on the ZR2 forum) . 300-ish hp and lb-ft.
I don’t think I could ever go diesel.

The V6 feels fine when the 8-speed decides to work. Though, I think ours is having the class action 8-speed issues at 50k miles.

Yeah, it’s the same engine. 300hp/270ish torque I believe. I’d much rather they stu ck the 4.3V6 in it at 280hp/325tq TBH

Since you have warranty work that needs to be taken care of, will you take it to the dealer that wouldn't sell to you?

Keep me posted.
I am thinking about getting a ZR2 for a dad mobile. I probably would just add the sport bar and lights, then add some grill lights. More than likely swap the wheels and add more aggressive rubber then call it a day. Probably would see trail duty 2-3 times a year max.

I ’ve been shopping these as well but don’t really want to spend the money on a new one. I nearly bought one with 20k miles in the same colour and agree it is a good white - nice and bright, contrasts well with the black bumpers/fender flares. Someone beat me to the punch on that one. Almost bought an orange one with 2k miles as well but the dealership lowballed the hell out of my WRX’s trade in value (as in $2500 less than the next lowest offer I’ve seen), which put us too far apart to reach an agreement. They were stuck with that truck for another month and a half as a result. I probably should’ve checked in with them to see if they’d up their offer but the earlier experience left me sour enough to ask the salesman not to email me again .
I’m keeping an eye on the market to grab a deal one a nice low-mileage one if/when they pop up. I’m simultaneously awaiting a few debuts and not pursuing the ZR2 too hard so maybe I’ll end up in one, maybe not.
Congrats on the purchase, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.

I was looking at used too, but prices in the PNW for a used ZR2 was surprisingly close to new making it not worth it imo. Perhaps they’re better priced in your location, but I’ve heard this is a low used car stockpile issue driving up used car prices.

Yup, in 2WD and ‘Off-Road Mode’ (just press in the 4WD selector), you can lock in the rear and it will stay locked all the way to the fuel cutoff at 97mph.

Well done. Best I’ve seen for a crew V6 like I want is $46,500 CAD, iirc. If I find one for the equivalent of what you paid (~$ 43,500 CAD), I’ll jump on it as long as the dealer makes a semi-reasonable offer on my Subaru.
